I Just wanted to give you relief for your dry itchy scalp if you haven't been able to figure out what do. Here are just a few simple home remedies that can possibly help you get rid of that itchy scalp. Read on and try these things out at home
1. Aloe vera gel is a natural moisturizer and helps in treating an itchy scalp because of its anti-microbial and soothing properties. Take organic aloe vera gel or a leaf(buy it Mexican Markets or Whole Food) and apply it directly to your scalp. Leave it for 15-20 minutes and wash it with lukewarm water. Repeat this twice a week to see better results.
2. Baking Soda
Baking soda has both anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties that help in killing the bacteria causing infection, hair fall or itchiness. All you need is 2-3 tablespoons of baking soda and water. Take a bowl and add both the ingredients in it. Mix it until the consistency becomes like a thick paste. Once you're done with it, take the paste and spread it over your scalp for 10 to 15 minutes. After completion of 15 minutes, you can wash your hair with a regular shampoo. Bonus: add two drops of lavender essential or eucaliptus essential oil
Apple cider vinegar is made from fermented apple juice.
Apple cider vinegar is said to help relieve dandruff symptoms by rebalancing the scalp’s natural pH levels. People also think it prevents the growth of fungi that contribute to dry, itchy skin, and will remove product buildup from your scalp as well.
I recommend you pour it in a dish and use a cotton square and rub on your scalp, in-between shampoos. Some people only use ACV to shamppo their hair.
4. DIY Coconut Water Leave-in Spritz
This is a great DIY to use on your scalp that draws moisture to your scalp. Don't forget water is really the only true way to add moisture. click here for my secret DIY recipe.This will not only keep your scalp and locs moisturized, but consistent use will keep your locs strong, healthy, and vibrant.
5. Use natural oils to keep your scalp moisturized and healthy. Oils like coconut, avocado, grape seed oil and olive will protect your scalp from getting too dry. Witch hazel or diluted tea tree oil will help clean yourscalp with its antifungal properties. Our house made Juju oil will keep your scalp moisturized and healthy, able to grow longer, stronger locs.
Wrap you hair/locs at night
with a du rag, satin scarf, Loc Soc or bonnet. This will loc in moisture and prevent breakage or dry locs during the night.
